Child enjoying 11 plus (11+) tuition
Distance Learning

I have extensive knowledge of 11+ assessments and what is needed to prepare children effectively. I help children develop the maths, English and reasoning skills needed for success, using tried-and-tested strategies and carefully chosen resources.

I also have experience preparing children for independent school entrance assessments, including The King's School Gloucester, giving me a strong understanding of a range of selective exam styles.

With Gloucestershire and Trafford grammar schools moving from GL Assessment to the FSCE (Future Stories Community Enterprise) test, there will be changes to the format. While full details are still being confirmed, I am closely following developments and adapting my teaching accordingly.

The most important thing for families to know is that the foundations remain the same. Strong maths and English skills, together with the ability to reason, problem-solve and apply knowledge confidently, will continue to be at the heart of success.

My approach focuses on building these core skills first, so children are prepared not just for one specific test, but for whatever form the assessment takes.

Online 11+ Groups

My online 11+ groups provide a structured, engaging way for children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for selective entrance assessments. Year 4 groups focus on building strong foundations that are valuable whatever 11+ pathway your child takes, while Year 5 groups provide more targeted preparation, including for the new Gloucestershire and Trafford FSCE assessments.

Lessons are taught live on Pencil Spaces, combining interactive activities, discussion and problem solving to keep children engaged while ensuring everyone has opportunities to participate and receive plenty of individual support.

Groups are available for children in Year 4 and Year 5.

Year 4: Building Strong Foundations

Year 4 is the ideal time to begin developing the skills that underpin success in selective entrance assessments. Rather than focusing on a particular exam format, my Year 4 groups strengthen the core maths, English and reasoning skills that children need, whatever 11+ pathway they choose.

Sessions develop reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, arithmetic and problem-solving through engaging activities that build confidence, resilience and a love of learning. By establishing these strong foundations early, children are well prepared for more structured 11+ preparation in Year 5.

Year 5: Structured 11+ Preparation

My Year 5 groups build on these foundations through more focused 11+ preparation. Children apply their maths, English and reasoning skills in increasingly challenging contexts while developing problem-solving strategies, exam technique and confidence.

As the year progresses, sessions introduce more demanding comprehension, vocabulary and reasoning tasks, helping children prepare for the specific requirements of their chosen 11+ assessment, including the new Gloucestershire and Trafford FSCE assessments.
